AlignRx, the nation’s largest independently owned PSAO, announced Schaffner Pharmacy of Sedro-Woolley, WA, as the winner of the 2023 AlignRx Pinnacle Award. The Award recognizes a community pharmacy for providing significant value to its patients, local communities, and the healthcare system. This year marks the first year the Award was given.
Schaffner Pharmacy was selected for its innovative services, including pioneering a full-service hypertension program that treats patients who have been referred by local physicians. The program helps patients reach their target blood pressure quickly by tailoring a treatment plan involving lifestyle and dietary modifications along with medication therapy management (MTM) and blood pressure monitoring. Schaffner Pharmacy also swiftly implemented COVID-19 testing and treatment—and was one of the nation’s leading pharmacies for the most tests administered.

Schaffner also serves on the board for the Washington State Pharmacy Association and is part of the CPESN luminary leadership team, where he works with payors to bring value-based contract opportunities and help government entities understand the importance of community pharmacy.
