Our team selected Oquirrh Mountain Pharmacy for its “go above-and-beyond” attitude toward patient care. The pharmacy’s free medication therapy management program ensures its patients regularly receive MedPacks for all medications simultaneously to avoid delays or disruptions.
When a patient enrolls in the program, they consult with a technician either in-person or over the phone about their medication list. The pharmacy then handles transferring those medications and begins syncing their fill date. The first delivery is a short fill for each medication based on their last fill date and how many pills the patient has left.
Once the regular fill rotation is established, the pharmacy checks in with the patient 14 days before their next fill to ensure there are no changes, there are enough refills, and that a new prior authorization isn’t needed. Staff pack the medications and obtain insurance approval to ensure the medications are ready to be delivered for the next fill date.
Several of Oquirrh Mountain Pharmacy’s patients are seniors and Medicaid recipients. The pharmacy believes this program is a huge benefit to those patients, as many don’t have reliable transportation, and it’s also challenging for them to manage their medications at home with limited ability or finances to get assistance. By offering vital services like adherence packaging, home delivery, and detailed medication management, many of these patients have been able to maintain an independent living situation over needing more intensive inpatient care.
